I'm confused about the Bio Requirements and how my AP Bio score will affect it.

The web site says "For students who do not plan to major in the biological sciences or prepare for the health professions, a score of 4 or 5 on the AP biology test confers credit for BIOS 10130. These students meet the general education requirement with either one or two topics courses in the biological sciences, depending on how the requirements in the mathematical and physical sciences are met; consult your College adviser for details"

Perhaps a current student can fill me in?

Assuming you are not a bio major–

In general (there are a couple other ways to fulfill your requirement*), you take two bio classes for the Core: Core Bio, and a bio topics course. An AP score of 4 or 5 confers credit for Core Bio, but you still have to take the topics class.

roughly: taking two quarters of “real bio”; taking the exercise and metabolism classes; taking the four-quarter natural sciences sequence–that last also fulfills your physci requirement. I may be missing something.

There’s also a two-quarter “pharmacological perspectives” class that satisfies the bio requirement—I’m in the second quarter of the sequence and its generally preferable to core bio.
