I am looking for an internship that is health related. I'm interested in cosmetic dermatology, health and fitness. Lab work is fine too. (I'm looking into either California or New York)
What worries me is that I'm an international student ... and that its almost May and I know that some of the places don't accept resumes for summer internships. and i don't have a really good GPA... its around 2.2 now.
I don't need the intern position to be paid, I just want to get a better scope at what the field is like.
I have already mailed few companies such as women's health magazine, because those things interest me too.
I am only a sophomore here at University of Washington, planning to major in Biology.
Please give me some advise as to what I can do.
I am in kind of a hurry to get the position... Please help me out!
Thanks!

Frankly, you have a really low chance with your GPA, international status, and it’s already almost May. What is your home country? I advise you to look for opportunities back home.

Are you studying here in the U.S. on a student (F-1) visa? That will make it even harder for you to land an internship, as there are restrictions on working off-campus and especially for being paid. A lot of companies just won’t bother dealing with that kind of hassle.

yes, im here with a F-1 visa. how about if I tell them that it doesn’t need to be paid. I just want an experience :S …

How about volunteer work? I just want to spend my summer productive. Do you have any suggestions?
