Bio test good for anything?

Hey, I'm coming in as a sophomore transferring in from another school and I've decided to major in biology. So I was just wondering, can that diagnostic test on the web get me out of the first one or two 5 course sequence or what is it good for?

Also, what should I do to prepare? Thanks.

Since the biology test is administered online, it's used only for placement purposes and not for granting credit. If you have biology credit from your former college, you may be able to use that to place ahead in the sequence.

There's no real preparation necessary. It's multiple choice and pretty short and basic. I had never had a real biology course, and I did fine on it. Feel free to review a little if you want, but don't stress out about it.

Do we have to take the sequence the placement test suggests?

I don't think so. I'm taking BIOS 10100 (Core Bio) next fall, and I don't remember what the bio placement test put me in. I think it's more of a recommender than anything else... nothing to stress over.

Is that for Bio majors as well?

I'm hoping to take the higher level bio (not the AP 5 track, the one below that 150's I think) without worry over a test.

Dannon, I don't think you'll have a problem getting into a good, challenging bio class that's at your level (I don't know the bio sequence numbers well, so I don't know about the 150s specifically).

Bio placement is definitely just a recommendation. The test is a lot less important than the math placement.

thanks a bunch.
