Bio vs. Envi... which is harder?

Okay, yes, I know Bio is more difficult than Environmental any day, but I'm in a "unique" situation.

My school doesn't offer either (only AP class I'm in is CalcAB.....), and I was planning to just self-study envi for s&g's. And then, about 5 minutes ago, the thought struck me that I could, in theory, self-study AP Bio.

How insane would that be? From what I've heard, one of the AP questions has to do with required labs... could I just read a review book to make up for that?

Note: I'm in my schools Bio2 class, and I could always self-study both if my school allowed it.

It really isn't that insane. I am relatively sure that you can go find out information about the labs on some resource sites.

you can self-study AP Biology. Just get a good textbook (Campbell's 7th) and a good prep book (Cliffs 3rd ed.)

I'm gonna be self studying AP Bio this year. Campbells + Cliffs = win

I'm taking Ap Bio with mcgraw Hill textbook given by my school. Anybody try it with that?

Also, do Ap Bio and APES correlate? While taking Bio, I was thinking about self-studying APES.

^ B/yay/ump

that textbook would probably be okay but the Campbell's book is WAYYYYYY better.

SBuck,
Somewhere in the back of your bio text you will find 8-10 chapters on env. sc.
If you were awake in grades 7 & 8 - and get a review book - you will find env sci one of the easiest of exams.

Ok- so I ordered the Campbell's book.
So everyone concur's that the labs are easy enough to read about?

And what about testing out of a college lab- is it like the ap chem thread where a college might ask for your labs? That seems a bit crazy.

Where would I be able to find this Campbell's book?
Whats the lowest price I could get?

Thanks!

I ebayed it (I got it for $80, shipping included in that)
Amazon is a lot more expensive.
Search "Campbell biology"

Most online places wanted something around 110-ish

I have a question. Is Campbell's Biology Concepts & Connections (5th Edition) the same as the heavenly Campbell's Biology Book?

I basically self-studied AP Bio, because my teacher was HORRIBLE and didn't teach anything. (Even if you asked him a question, he'd just say you needed to study more or to ask him later.) I was worried about the labs too, because we only did about 1 or 2 labs during the whole year and neither was vaguely related to the AP labs. Cliff's AP does a good job covering the labs, so I just studied my textbook and Cliff's AP and did fine.

Thanks for everyone's responses!

And sbuck- the 5th edition is probably fine.

Alright good, because I saw it online for pretty cheap. The only thing I don't know is whether the Concepts & Connections book is the regular Bio book that everyone recommends.
