First of all, what is the difference between molecular biology and biochemistry. My main question here is what schools are good in molec bio/biochem and which of these would it be easiest to transfer into? Thanks for the help.

to explain the difference, i think molecular biology might be the one where you look at biology from the molecular level, memorizing all the bonding and stuff. and biochemistry is the chemistry that goes on in living organisms.

I just read about it and it seems that molecular bio deals with how you get from DNA to poteins and biochem deals with how you get from proteins to effects(work done by them).

just my 2 cents but if you don't even know what they are about how do you know that you want to go into those specific fields?

Molecular biology deals more with genetics; genetics in a sense that you study rna composition, chromosomes structures, transcription and transtional factors to to their molecular aspects, and so forth.

Biochem deals with alot, but mostly protein assembly and metabolism. Of course you study RNA too in certain classes.

UCSB has a top notch biochem/molecular bio program, and is fairly easy to transfer into ( for science majors your lookin at around a 3.2-3.3 from a CCC)

It doesnt't really mater I guess, I'v hear of people majoinring in general bio or chem and gettign Biochem Phds. What I'm worried about is fidnign th most prestigius schoo I ca get into. I'm sure perstige will help me get into the gaduate school of my choice. Thanks for all the replies.
