Biochemistry vs medical technology

I recently changed my career choice from pilot to doctor and am trying to figure out what I should major in. My two top options are biochemistry and medical technology. I’m torn between the two and which one would be best for going to medical school and taking the mcats. Any suggestions?

If your goal is medical school, you should choose an academic major, like biochemistry, over a vocational major, like medical technology. Vocational majors perform relatively poorly on the MCAT and have the lowest medical school admission rates.

Biochemistry and medical technology are both great majors to prepare you for med school. Pretty much any science major would be suitable for pre-med. Medical schools do not favor science majors over any other majors, but do look at your MCAT scores and the specific course requirements that usually include biology, chemistry, organic chemistry, and other science/math courses. Major in something that genuinely interests you and make sure you have fulfilled the requirements for med schools you are looking at.
