Bioinformatics Phd

Hi, I am applying for graduate school this year in bioinfo or computational bio. I have some reach schools like MIT and Carnegie Mellon on the list. But I couldn't find many schools that can be considered as saftey simply because all the schools that I have looked at seems to be very competitive.
My stats:
GPA 3.7+
1 published ACS journal not in bioinfo
1 submitted to cell for review
Biology major, CS minor
About 3 years of research, but the first 1.5 years not in bioinfomatics.
GRE highest combined: 800, 680

I would like to stay in east coast, particular northeast. Can you suggest some saftey/match schools for me to look into? Thanks.

Unlike undergraduate admissions, you don’t settle for safeties in graduate school, so why apply? Numbers-wise, your application looks strong enough for the top schools.

That’s true. I don’t mean to apply schools that are bad, maybe a little less well known. My other intention is to get some school names that have bioinformatics phd so I can take a look because so far my source of finding schools is google. Thanks.
