Is anyone on here familiar with it? How is it academically, reputation wise, and how "Christian" is it? It recently caught my attention and I'd just like to know a bit more about it

I have a friend who’s a sophomore at Biola, and she absolutely loves it! It’s quite good academically, well renowned within the Christian college community. It’s quite “Christian” with regards to policies and practice. Too much for me personally, but there are some who thrive in environments like that.

I’ve visited and know some people who go to Biola and it’s a great school. Academically, it depends on your major. For example, their journalism program, I’ve heard, is up-and-coming while some of their sciences are not as well known (probably influenced by the evolution vs. creation debate.)
As for being Christian, the atmosphere is very much so, not just in the rules and regulations, but their faith is very important to much of the student body. For example, they play Christian radio in the dorm bathrooms and I talked to a guy in the cafeteria about how he felt God led him to Biola.

I just went and visited Biola! It is definately a decent school. But the next day I visited Azusa Pacific University and I absolutely fell in love with it. I compared both in every way and found Azusa to be an improvement to Biola. If you want a conservative college I would hit up Biola. If you want a less conservative college choose Azusa. Azusa has 60 majors. I specifiacally looked into the science majors. It has a brand new science center and its pre-med graduates have a higher percentage of acceptance into medical school than Biola. Biolas a really good school but I would look at Azusa and compare. (azusa is also in the LA area)

Azusa has chapels 3 times a week, and requires bible classes for graduation. However unlike Biola, Azusa allows nonchristians to attend in order to have better discussions that are less one sided. Speakers at Azusa come from all types of denominations. If your looking for a school that is going to show you the world and let you choose what to believe and really think your beliefs through choose Azusa. Its teachers are all christians and the student to teacher ratio is 15 to 1.

I know someone really well who went to Biola and this person thoroughly enjoyed it. They enjoyed the classes and said that Biola really puts an emphasis on writing-like being able to write a great paper is essential for graduation. According to US News and World Report it is in the second tier of the best colleges in the US. From what I am told, it is pretty conservative.
