Biological Sciences: CALS vs CAS

Hi, I'm debating whether or not to submit an application to Cornell because I'm interested in medicine, but I have not taken two SAT IIs for CAS.

How different are the Biological Sciences in each department? I'm looking into going to either Med School or Optometry School.

Thank you!

CALS Biology and CAS Biology have identical requirements. The school requirements are a bit different (CALS’s are more life-science oriented and less breadth-oriented), but both programs are equally good. CALS may be slightly easier to get into, although I think CALS unlike CAS admits by major, so it might be equally difficult because Biology is a popular major. The biology program here is good, I would recommend it.

Thanks so much! Your response was perfect :)

No problem. For more information regarding the differences between the schools:

(Note: If you’re a New York state resident, CALS is quite a bit cheaper so you should probably apply to that one.)

Unfortunately, I’m not a NY resident, but I’m expecting decent Fin. Aid. Thanks for the links!
