biology major looking for the right UC

I've read through so many posts and I am more confused then ever. A lot of people have said UCR is not a good school? I was very interested in going to UCR until i read that the city isn't safe and walking downtown at night is not safe. I have no clue which school to go to. I'm looking for a school that has a strong science program as well as a good campus life. I also want to be near a major city because I love going out on adventures and I don't want to be stuck in a city with no life. I also want to go to a school that is very diverse and into their sports. i'm attending a community college and i have a gpa of 3.3 but i know i gotta work my ass off if i want to even have a slight chance to get into medical school. Any ideas?

I am also a bio/biochem major, and I feel that as long as you get into a UC you are in for a good program with science. However, If you’re looking for a good city atmosphere, I feel UCLA offers the best out of all the UC’s. Next, I would say Berkeley. Most of the other UC’s I’ve visited, however, were mostly secluded from a city life. For example, Davis, Santa Barbara, Irvine, san diego. Don’t go to merced if you absolutely want to be a part of a vibrant community. haha.

UC Davis and UC Santa Barbara are your best bets. Check out UC Santa Cruz as well.
