Biology, Physics, and a DVM?

Hi. Currently I am a senior in high school. I know that this is a long way into the future, but I’d like to know my options. I would like to be a vet and I enjoy biology and am good at it. However, I also would love to study physics and possibly pursue a career in it if I do not get in to vet school. It is my favorite branch of science. I really love quantum physics and astrophysics. Is it possible to double major? I know they are two difficult majors and there won’t be many overlapping courses. Currently I am enrolled in my school’s PSEO program and CIS classes and will graduate high school with 41 credits. Also, what careers are there for a major in physics? Would the double major give me a competitive advantage for vet school? Thanks in advance!

I am also looking at a physics major with a biology sub-plan. What would the best option be if my central goal is vet school?

Why don’t you major in physics? It sounds like that’s what you’re really interested in; you can take the pre-vet classes and some interesting classes in biology on the side if you want (and perhaps complete a minor if that makes sense for you).

No, a double major doesn’t make you more competitive for vet school. Good grades and test scores do (as well as some other factors like experience with animals, but not a double major).

if you’re interested more in physics, major in physics and maybe a minor in bio

Thanks for the replies! The college I plan on attending actually offers a physics major with a biology sub plan. It says that it’s a common major for people going into medicine, so it seems to be a good fit for me.
