Biology SAT 2: 720, good?

Hi, so I am a freshman in high school who is hoping to attend a prestigious university later in life. I took biology over the summer (for credit) and got a 98 in the class. I then took the Sat 2 twice. first score-not so good :-O Second score:720. I was wondering if that is a good score for a future science major at a reputable school. Should I retake it a third time? people have been telling me that it is a good score not worth retaking, but I think that is kind of borderline. I don't know what to do. Help please! Thank you.

someone reply, please!

Looking at “Subject Test Percentile Ranks,” a 720 in Bio, depending on which Bio you took, is either 78th percentile (good) or 68th percentile (closer to average, but don’t feel bad if this is the case; my SAT IIs were 68th and 69th percentile).

Either way, I don’t think it looks good to keep retaking it. It’s supposed to “prove your mastery,” not prove how many times you can take a test and still improve your score.

Are you kidding, a 720 is great!

thanks so much!

Just a general comment about taking Subject tests, there’s no need to rush and take them so early in HS, particularly if it may take you 3 times to get what you consider a good score. While most schools permit Score Choice, not all do, and there’s always the money and time spent with frequent retesting.

Most Subject tests are best taken after completing the AP class (pre-Calc for Math 2) as the Subject test is easier than the AP exam and so requires little if any additional prep. Except for a couple of schools (and I think they now recommend rather than require 3), you need at most 2 Subject tests for any college in the US.

Thanks so much to all of you! entomom, since you mentioned it, would you be so kind as to tell me which schools at the competitive level (very selective ones) do not allow you to use ScoreChoice?
