I'm thinking of majoring in biology, or maybe chemistry, but definately some sort of natural science. Also, Upenn's Biological Basis of Behavior caught my eye. or maybe ecology?

Anyways, I was wondering what kind of career these majors would lead to. I don't really want to teach, but I want to do something that helps people. Honestly, my dream would be to redo the zoo in my town. I would make it more educational and hands on becuase right now it's kind of blah.

Also, what colleges would be a good match, that have good science programs. I get decent grades and have decent scores and I'm going to be a senior. I won't even try for Harvard, so don't suggest it (they have a zoology major!).

Oh yeah, I don't want to be a vet either. I like healthy, happy animals :)

With ecology, good recommendations, and related internships, you could get into lots of animal related fields from zoologist to wildlife preservationist and general environmental stuff. Most state schools have these kinds of programs and majors (and probably professors doing fun research) but some LAC are very strong in these departments. A quick google search turned up these schools for the zoology major (though I can't personally evaluate them- sorry!): Auburn, Connecticut College, Clemson, McGill, Michigan State, Rutgers, UC- Santa Barbara, UC- Davis, and University of Vermont (among others). And that's just zoology! You could tailer a Bio major toward zoology at just about any school. Good luck with your search!

Biology majors can actually do a lot of things. I spoke to a lady with one that did all of the testing of evidence at crime scenes. You could also do something with genetics or drug research. There are really a lot of options.
