BiomedE vs. ChemE?

My major for the fall is ChemE.
I’m more interested in the bioE area, but Davis doesn’t have a BioE major, and the closest one is BiomedE. I kind of regret choosing ChemE since I’m more into bio than chem. I went to Admit Day and talked to people from both dept, and seems like BiomedE have less students and they have like a sample schedule for premed students.

So if any of you are in ChemE or BiomedE, can you share some experience like work load and competiveness of the major? And also I want to take some intro classes in both to see which one I like the best during freshman year, is this possible? And does biomed better prepare you for medschool? What are the average units per quarter?

Lots of quesions…
Please help!

I am not an engineering major persay but I do have friends that are. Usually for the first year, most engineering students (if I am right) take most of the same classes. General calculus, a quarter or two of general chemistry, and stuff like that. The workload is usually intense for students who want to graduate in 4 years (because engineering has like 200+ unit requirement) that averages to about 16-17units a quarter (this is why some engineers take 5 years).

As for med school, as long as you fulfill the requirements you should be fine. A few of your classes will align with pre med requirements, but not all just to let you know.
