I got into Davis’ Biomedical Engineering program and was trying to get a sense of the department. 1) I was just wondering the amount of students that use BME to get into medical school vs the number of students that go into the work force. 2) How does the department break down? Is it all one giant program or are there subdivisions like Bioengineering:Pre-Med; Bioengineering: Biotechnology etc? Any information from current or perspective students would be very helpful thnz.

I would suggest something less intensive and easy if all you want to do is go into med school. Engineering, in general, is one of the hardest subject colleges offer.

Not to mention most likely that major will be a gpa killer.

i don't know about question 1 but as for question 2, there are 3 subdivisions for bme here, biomolecular, imaging and pre-med. if you're coming to davis for sure though, like others have said you might want to choose another major to do pre-med. but if you're confident in your abilities, go for it. either way if you're coming to davis, you can always switch out of the major after you get a feel for what the pre-med classes are like, as the introductory bme classes will overlap with the some of the classes you need to take for a pre-med track. hope that helped.
