Biomedical Engineering 5 year Co-op at Drexel vs Widener 4 +1 program with co-op

My son trying to decide between Drexel’s 5 year co-op program and Widener for Biomedical Engineering. Does anyone have any experience with these programs and is willing to share the pros and cons. The cost will be basically the same do to scholarships/grants he was awarded. With Drexel he will graduate with a BS and 1 1/2 year experience doing the Co-op. It is a bigger school. Widener is a smaller school with smaller class sizes. He can do a one year co-op and still graduate in 4 years. If he maintains a certain GPA, he can possibly get a 75% scholarship to pay for his masters, with the other possibility with having his masters paid 100% by doing community service. So at Widener he can graduate in 5 years with a masters. With thinking about the job market, does a Drexel degree hold more weight than Widener? Any insight would be much appreciated.

Some questions to consider :

  • Are both ABET accredited?
  • How strong is he in math and physics - engineering is tough and most students can’t stay with that major. What happens at either school if he can’t stay in engineering?
  • what GPA must he keep in order to keep his scholarships?
