My D is looking to go for the 5 year/3 coop Biomedical Eng. program at Drexel. Read on another thread somewhere that co-ops are especially hard to come by for BME and are far fewer than other engineering disciplines. Can a current student/parent comment ? She is really looking forward to the co-op experience.
I’m a current sophomore going on Co-Op this fall/winter. I’m a biomedical engineering major. I would say the applicants pool for Co-Ops in BME is huge since BME is like a whole department on its own compared to the other Engineering disciplines. I would the number of Co-Op employers for BME is very broad hence each student has the opportunity to engage in something. further more, there three rounds of the application process and each round comes with its own jobs so if an applicants doesn’t get a job in the first round he/she is pushed to the second round. the chances of getting a job in the second or third round is increased as students who have accepted jobs from the first and second round are removed from the system reducing the competition for jobs. hope this helps.
