I got accepted to University of Minnesota: Twin cities - college of science and engineering. and my major is biomedical engineering. I'm planning on going.

I know that U of Minn was ranked 22nd or 28th on engineering but I was wondering what other people thought about U of Minn. Would going to U of Minn for engineering a good choice?

I can’t really answer this question without knowing what your other options are. Where else are you considering?

For engineering in general, Minnesota is very good. You can look to any of the major rankings (USNews, NRC, ARWU, etc.) if you want confirmation of this.

For BME specifically, UMN is also strong. I don’t think BME is the strongest department in the College of Science & Engineering, but it is still solid and the outcomes seem pretty good: <a href=“Undergraduate program | Biomedical Engineering | College of Science and Engineering”>Undergraduate program | Biomedical Engineering | College of Science and Engineering;

One plus for UMN is that you’ll probably find me there :)

For other schools i got accepted to like UC Davis and Drexel, i applied to their biology program. so yeah I wish i applied to biomed engineering.

Yeah! i heard The U’s chemical engineering is like the best. I wasn’t sure if other engineering majors were equally great :)

For pretty much any major in CSE or CBS, I’d probably take the U over Davis or Drexel.

There are many biomedical engineering companies in the Minnesota area, so I would think it would be a good place for coops and internships. If you are doing BME as a career choice, not as a stepping stone to premed, I would look at what companies recruit there.

Are you from the Minnesota area? It’s pretty cold there!
