Biomedical engineering Vs. Mechanical Engineering

I am currently a Senior and im in a debate between Biomedical Engineering with an emphasis in Stem Cell research and mechanical engineering for a much broader option. I dont really know what to choose from because both fields interest me. What schools in California and statewide should i consider? thanks for the help :)

Hello Altapia07,

I had a similar dilemma when I was trying to pick a major. It was between Aerospace and Mechanical engineering. I ended up going with Mechanical because, as you have said, it’s much broader. So far in my career, I’ve worked in the Defense, Patent, Maritime and HVAC industries. I went to NC State for Mechanical Engineering. Schools to consider in California include: UC Berkeley, Caltech, Standford. Here’s a link to a list of the best mechanical engineering schools in the country:

Thank you for your advice. i think i will actually go for mechanical engineering since it offers the most variety and the biggest range of jobs.

Sounds good! Let me know if you have any questions or want to know more about mechanical engineering.
