I'm applying to Stanford, Harvard, and Columbia as my reach schools for biomedical engineering. (and planning on going to medical school afterwards) I originally had Yale on there too since when I visited, they showed us the new BME building they built...but since it was just built, obviously Yale's BME program hasn't been around very long and probably not as rigorous and extensive as that of Stanford, correct?

To my knowledge, Stanford does not have an undergraduate BME program (you can probably take the same courses, but I don't believe seeing one). I applied to Yale, Stanford and Columbia (not Harvard - didn't like the attitude I was met with there), and chose Yale BME - for the brand new facilities, the innovative research, and the 1:1 student-faculty ratio (can't beat that). The course selection may not be as broad, granted, but the rigor of the courses is comparable in any undergrad BME program and Yale has great med-school placement figures. For undergrad, there may not be an option better than Yale out there. Its small, new BME program may not have the huge space/enrollment, but it is state-of-the-art (especially with the recent purchase of the Bayer complex). Those are my two cents...

Yale's undergraduate BME program can't be matched.
