I am thinking of majoring in biomedical engineering on a 5 year track that would allow me to graduate with my bachelor’s and masters. I know that some people say to major in a different engineering field and minor in biomed, but I am way more interested in getting into the biomedical industry. Will I be able to have a career with a degree in biomedical engineering?
yeah
You would be more marketable if your undergrad degree was in something like MechE or ChemE, maybe with some BioMedE add’l classes or Bio add’l classes.
@mom2collegekids Really, why?
@NitikS BME is an extremely broad degree. Lots of breadth but relatively little depth. BME grads have a harder time finding jobs than ME, EE, ChemE, etc. grads.
Even with a masters degree? @AuraObscura
I asked around here and another forum and the general conscious is to major in a more general field like MechE ElecE or ChemE. My plan is a meche major and BME minor now.
I made a couple threads here with the same questions if you wanna check them out.
@student729 No, an MS tends to even things up, for the most part.
