biomedical engineering

My son is interested in biomedical engineering, and I noticed that there is a joint program between NC State and UNC Chapel Hill. I was told to apply to NC State, but then, if accepted to the BME program, son would likely have to move to the UNC campus.

As we would like him to have the "college experience" and he wants to stay at one school all four years, would it be better for him to apply to UNC and start there with general courses?

Anyone have any experience with this program and how the logistics worked?

We'll be coming from Louisiana. If it matters, SAT 2100, ACT 31, lots of ECs and volunteer work.

Thanks for any input!

It is much harder to get into UNC from out of state than it is to get into NC State from out of state. Based on what you say about your S, he could probably get into NC State from out of state, but getting into UNC would be a crapshoot. Just something to consider.

Phony, do you think it would be easier for him to go to NC State then transfer to UNC if gets accepted into bme program?

I’ll look into NC state more as for alternate programs if doesn’t get into bme.

Thanks very much for your candor.
