I'm a 3rd year bio sci major with a 3.5 GPA and 3.3 science GPA. However my GPA in Arts and Humanities/Writing classes is a 3.9.

How are GPAs weighted to get into business school? Based on my situation, is it easier to get into than med school, because I'm a little under average for med school.

And how common is it for bio sci majors to go to business school? Thanks!!!

It's very uncommon, which is why you would be an excellent candidate. They like diversity. However, business school is different than Medical/Law school in that top business schools require candidates to have several years of post graduate work experience.

Business schools certainly accept career switchers. (Some consulting companies will hire people regardless of major...which may be an option for you). However, I think they would really love for someone like you to come from a science/medical related job and have a purpose for attending business school in order to leverage your business knowledge in the science/medical field.

Long story short, you need to wait 3-5 years after graduation before going to business school (there is a wide variance and you don't want to go to one that's not up to snuff). With that in mind, you would need to figure out what you will do in the meantime, and why you would want an MBA because you will need to sell that to the admissions committee (via essays, interviews etc).

BTW, GPAs are not as important as they are in law/medical school. They are 1 of 5 or 6 important factors but work experience is the most important factor. Your GPA is good enough to get into any business school.
