Hey guys! I had a question.

I am a sophomore Mathematics and Life Sciences student who is interested in Biostatistics and Mathematical Biology. Im looking for an internship or other program for this coming summer. My friend told me about the Summer Institute for Training in Biostatistics (SIBS), but it appears that it only ran until 2012. I have also been checking out some pharmaceutical companies websites but it seems like they dont have any internship opportunities for Biostatistics, only Business and Microbiology.

Does anyone know where I should look next? Would it be appropriate to just email companies asking if they have internship opportunities for me even if their internship page does not explicitly say that they do? I was also considering applying for some Biostatistics / Mathematical Biology research positions at some universities. Any idea where to look for these opportunities?

If I cannot find any opportunities in these two fields I will most likely do Ecological research at my school as I did last summer. Thats not a terrible thing, but I would rather work in Biostatistics or Mathematical Biology.

Thanks very much for your time!
