biostatistics vs civil (and other) engineering

Hi guys, I am an international student, and I am interested in careers focused on analysis and design(but I am not very good at fine arts)...I do not like to work in big cities like NYC or Chichago(but it's OK in cities like Minneapolis and Boston), do not like to work in business and finance field yet. However, biostats and civil engineering seem nice for me.

so, how is the employment prospects of biostatistics and enginering majors? And more important, how is the work environmrnt?

plus, it's important to me that I should make decision between universities(for engineering) and LACs(for math)
