Bisexual Atheist = Hook?

So I’m going to be a senior next year and am applying only to very liberal colleges. I am an URM and I know that that’s a really common hook. But I was looking at some other posts on this forum, and people said that being LGBTQ or being an atheist could be a hook at a liberal school? Is that actually true for either one and if so how do I even get a college to know that I have that/those hooks? I am, obviously, bisexual and an atheist.

No

Being openly LGBTQ or an atheist is no longer unusual at the more liberal and elite schools. What these qualities mostly announce is that you’ll fit right in. There are no extra points for that.

Not a hook

Agreed, not a hook at all.

Yup, not a hook.

It’s not uncommon for students experiment w bisexual experiences in college.
Liberal schools are full of atheist/non-religious students.

Yawn…

If Bisexual atheist were a hook, I wonder about these scenarios:

How much of a hook would being a straight conflicted Christian with Buddhist leanings be?

Or how about a dyslexic agnostic insomniac that lies awake in the middle of the night wondering if there is a dog?

Not nearly as useful as good test scores and grades.

Atheism would certainly not be a hook but there may be something to be said about LGBTQ since schools like to add diversity of all kinds to their campus. Some experiences the LGBTQ students face make for some powerful essays.

A good essay can be helpful in admission to some colleges, but it would not be a hook.

If it were a hook, I think just about all of us on CC would consider ourselves bisexual.

Not a hook. Focus on how your background benefits the school. Schools want future success stories who will endow the university with big donations.

hahaha. I wonder if the OP got her answer?

Absolutely a hook. Even more so if your family is devout muslim.

Not a hook.

I believe we have achieved consensus. As I cannot imagine what more can be said, I am closing this thread.
