Should I go to Biz-econ in LA or just Econ in Berkeley? Anyone has some advice? Thank you!

Anyone know which one is better?

Biz Econ requires you to take 4 upper-level accounting courses. You will probably need to finish up the extra pre-reqs at UCLA WITH a 3.5 or above to officially go from “pre” to major status. If you want accounting courses or a challenge, go to Biz econ at UCLA.

It depends on what you want to do, Cal has an amazing program, but so does UCLA. I feel that UCLA is more business oriented, but I’m Cal gets plenty of recruiting too. Look at the classes and see what you like and dislike.

Maybe I will see you at Cal!

if you goto cal just realize that you’re not actually in the econ major. You have to apply again to the major and you get in depending on your grades in your econ/stats in your first semester.

Look at the major requirements, they are different, so it depends on whether or not you want to do the business/acct. classes. Also, they are both great schools, but one’s in NorCal, and one’s in SoCal. I got into both, and am choosing UCLA because I will probably go into accounting after undergrad. Also, I’ve been in NorCal my whole life and can’t wait to move away.

@JetForce - UCLA BizEcon is actually Pre-BizEcon, and you have to get good grades in pre-reqs there before you can be in the major too.

yes but for ucla you can still do econ if you don’t get into biz-econ.

oh really? I didn’t know that. I guess that’s comforting, lol.

in my acceptance page, i didn’t see my major though. so i have to apply for econ again once i decide to go cal, wt if i can’t meet requirment, wt can i do? thx

if u don’t get in you have to choose another major.

So if i finish all those classes with good grades, i can get in for sure right?

Ouch, hopefully we don’t end up with something like under-water basket weaving as a major, lol. I already know my life will have to be dedicated to Econ 11 at UCLA my first quarter.

uhm Berkeley, how is this even a question? hahaha, jk, go to the program that u think will better help you achieve your career/academic goals

What happens if we can’t take that Stats prereq during the summer? Will we be screwed?

What stats requirement? If its econ 41 you have to take it at La…

same problem here…i am deciding among cal and ucla.
anyone know about the ranking of buz econ in the nation? or a world one.

Flip a freakin coin noodlesli cause you’re sitting pretty.

lol, i guess i will choose berkeley. Just kind surprised to know that we have to apply to econ major in berkeley again in the fall…

fuccccc what should i do?? ucla econ or ucb econ?!?!?!

Biz econ is much more competitive than just econ, so if you think you can handle accounting go for it.
