Seriously...how are colleges getting away with the names for these days. Spring Bling...Black by Popular Demand. Those are horrible and would turn me off more than anything.

Also...Raza day is ridiculous because Dia de la Raza is a real Latin holiday...Columbus Day. Bland. Day of the Race...it's all so ethnocentric.

ya, i'm pretty sure they do, i got a phone call and the guy was telling me all about black by popular demand, and its all about making it comfortable and showing their "black bruins" (thats what my letter said) that they can succeed. and they also provide them with counseling to help them graduate among many many other things...and as far as you saying that UVA makes phone calls and emails, and whatnot, I've received all of those as well. and i'm only 1/6 black

I think I'm a leader as demonstrated by being Chairman of my city's youth advisory commission, president of student body, president of black student union and the list goes on..

uM ok... Good for you? Want a pat on the back or something? Better yet come to UCLA and bring that leadership with you! Help us help you!

Even if every black UCLA accepted went the blacks would only be about 5%

We have to start somewhere! Have you thought about how you can help change all of that. You can improve reach-out efforts and organize events or what have you. But I guess you don't want to, do you sport?

congrats again you guys! Good job! My D was rejected. Pooh. We would have LOVED this option. Anybody know how many Black students where admitted?

P.S. She did get into Berkeley, Duke (Loved "BSAI"), Emory, etc. BTW.

idk but they told me abotu 300-400 would be in attendance...but im not sure if that is all minorites or just blacks....if they telll us...ill post it...

UCLA does not value racial diversity while UVA does. UVA has called, emailed, and makes a concious effort to make sure minority students succeed providing resources..........they have the highest graduatioin rate for blacks and are out of state, so I would be foolish not to go to their spring bling to got to UCLA..a school who doesn't seem to care about the amount of blacks on their campus.............

Maybe UCLA admits students based on merit, not the color of their skin?

i think that they also do care about racial diversity because I have gotten similar offers but from several mexican/hispanic organizations.

Is that just for freshmen? I'm a transfer and Mexican, and haven't gotten any communications like that . . . :(
