Alright, so I, like everyone else am flipping out about the Brown decision. Luckily I did get into Boston College and I’m very, very excited about that. It’s coming down to Brown vs. Boston College (assuming I get in).

Anyways, a couple questions, the decisions come out March 30th online, but are they all mailed on the same day (the 30th) and is there any way I could get it in real life on the 30th.

Because I live right near Boston, so I’m about an hour away, and if they mailed them at 8am is there any chance they could be processed day of?

Also, do you feel like getting into BC is a good litmus test for Brown admission? Because of four people I know who got into Brown they all applied to BC too, two of us (males) got in, and two of us (females) got waitlisted… It could be the gender thing, but if it possibly eliminates those two girls, then that’d be awesome.

I know it’s all just rumor, speculation, guesswork, and waiting. But thank you for any advice. Even if it’s just helping me kill time.

I think there is no rule.....no set standards....you can get rejected from Brown and get into Harvard, that what happenned to a girl I knew last year...so honestly getting into boston college is great in the act itself but means not a great deal as wheter or not you ll get into brown too...

likewise, a brilliant girl at my school last year got into yale, princeton, AND harvard.. but was given the "R" axe by Brown. that's why I think it's funny that there is such an abundance of "what are my chances" threads on this thing. once you hit the submit button, it's completely out of your hands and into those of a select few--and they are the only ones who can answer that infamous question.

another fun fact: in the same class as that girl, my high school had 8 kids apply. (we generally send a kid to almost all of the ivys each year, so the level of competition is considerably high) anyway, of those 8, only one got in. what makes this fact fun? his application was a complete and udder lie. he was so fed up with the whole admissions process that he applied to brown under the identity of an alaskan eskimo, the "first of his family to ever apply to college" and the "only one from his small town in alaska to ever apply to brown". alas, brown was punked, the kid was enlightened, and the remaining 7 probably weren't.

one big shot in the dark..'tis all

Getting into BC is a good sign, but anything is possible. They're entirely different schools looking for different types of students. And while BC is pretty competative, it's not quite as selective as Brown.

wow run, did that kid attend brown? and did they ever realize that he completely made up his application? that is pretty funny lol

hah no the kid did not attend.. and i suspect this was a wise decision. he was shocked that his evil scheme actually worked--it was something he threw out there in conversation one night, and wound up following thru on.

by the way, love your username. confederacy of dunces is my fav.

"Ignatius let out a little Paradise gas."
(had to)

Your high school's counselor let the kid get away with that? That's pretty irresponsible on his/her part, especially since that kid might've screwed up admissions decisions for the other kids from your school who applied.

lol thats some pretty crazy stuff...hard to believe brown wouldn't catch somethin like that!

confederacy of dunces is def an awesome book lol...love the paradise gas.

that's great....but I m surprised that brown didn't get it was a big joke when they read recs and college counselor letter...
