<p>If you have a clear-cut passion that is obvious throughout your application (like physics, history, etc), pursue that through either community service, internships, or work - it won't matter which one.</p>

<p>If not, consider the general pros for each:</p>

<p>Community service is good because you're contributing to your community with no material or monetary award for yourself.</p>

<p>Internships are good because you can explore a certain field in depth and they show you have responsibility.</p>

<p>Work is good because you show responsibility and get paid.</p>

<p>Personally, I'd go for work so I can get some dough.</p>

<p>I'd say work experience, it's the best sample you can give to the university of your leadership skills and abilities.</p>
