My school has block scheduling.

Life is sooooo much easier with it.

1, 3, 5
2, 4, 6

Only 3 periods a day, plus lunch

=]

Mine is
One day: 1, 2, 3, 4
Second day: 5,2,6,7

Second period is half as long as both of them
Lunch is either before or after 3 and 6 period

Periods 4A and 4B alternate all year long. Periods 1-3 switch at the semester. Each period is 83 minutes. Lunch is 30 minutes, either after second period or after 3rd period. So third period is staggered; half the school starts the period a half an hour later than the other half.

SEMESTER 1:
One day: 1, 2, 3, 4A
Next day: 1, 2, 3, 4B

SEMESTER 2:
One day: 5, 6, 7, 4A
Next day: 5, 6, 7, 4B

I'm glad my school has a 7 period day....I would hate it if it changed to a block schedule. There would be alot more scheduling issues.

we have a weird combination, i guess...we have 7 fullyear classes and each meets 4x/week. i wouldn't want to have such long classes...the extended ones we DO have are killer.

we have no block scheduling..7 periods a day max, 4 minimum for seniors only, nice and simple, but block scheduling sounds interesting

My physics teacher said that next year might be our last year on the block schedule. I'm not sure how I'd like 6-period days, which is what we'd probably revert to... whenever we had shortened classes for whatever reason, it was like we didn't have time for anything. I liked the 83-minute periods, for the most part.

And I liked that block scheduling allows you to take two years of a sequence in the same school year. Or take two classes of the same sort (like math or English) and spread them out over the year, instead of having to deal with the two classes simultaneously.

my school has 6 periods a day
a day:1,3,5
b day:2,4,6
i love it....more gets done in class and theres less hw per day....in non-ap/ib classes i usually finished my work early so i can sleep

Block scheduling is better because 80min allows you to get a full lecture as opposed to 45 min where you leave just as you are getting warmed up. Also, time isnt wasted wandering the campus. Block is especially good for APs, because you get a full year of 80 min/day classes.

Scheduling is also a lot easier with a block schedule.

yes~ block scheduling is the best. you can learn more, and you don't have to do homework from like 8 different subjects in one day.

How? Classes in a 7 period day can be spread throughout 7 periods. You have a better chance of not having schedule issues. Classes in a block schedule are spread throughout 4 periods.

I know that my friend had alot of trouble because AP Calc, AP Bio, and AP Physics were offered in the same period, and she could only do calc. If she went to a 7 period day school, she probably wouldn't have had an issue like that and possibly could've taken all those classes.
