I don’t think it will, but I was wondering- does writing and maintaining a blog look good on a college application? I plan on starting a blog of some sort anyway, either related to economics, or politics, or something completely random like music, but it would be a nice added benefit if I could use it to beef up my college apps. Also, if it is, how significant would it be?
yes it will definitely look good if your blog is popular
It is an EC. Not a particularly interesting one unless it is widely read. A fairly “passive” EC, in my opinion. Your odds of creating something popular are pretty slim. I’d get out and do something more hands on in your community if I were you. Create something real that involves or helps other people.
If you put a significant amount of time into it I would say it’s a good EC! Whether it’s popular or not, it shows that you have a passion for the subject, but make sure to have a consistency with your posts and make it quality looking/writing in case the admissions officers want to look at it.
