There rankings are a complete joke. No one with 80 or more IQ points would rank Villanova and BYU above MIT. In addition, anyone with half a brain can tell you that Wharton is number one (or at least in the top three). The “rank” of a business school is supposed to represent the school’s prestige, facilities, placements, and recruiting power. These rankings fail because they don’t represent any of those attributes properly. IMO, avg. starting salary is a much better ranking system for b-schools.

The rankings themselves are almost useless but the criteria are very interesting (avg starting salary etc, biggest employers).

Disclaimer - I think these rankings are a joke as well, just posting for others.

Does anyone in the business world take these rankings seriously?

While I agree it’s difficult to draw strong conclusions from any of the final rankings themselves, I do think that the underlying data is useful when comparing schools.

I just want to say that Businessweek also in the business of making money…like any business the more people read, know and talk about then the more customers/clientele that they will have then it is all gravy as money will pour in.

But then again, like any business some people will buy into their products and some dont…So, buyers be aware !!!
