I am considering sending the following e-mail to my Blue and Gold officer:

Capt (name of officer):

My name is (name) and I am e-mailing you simply to introduce myself as a candidate for the United States Naval Academy class of 2006. I look forward to working with you throughout the admissions process.

Respectfully,
(name)

Is this a good idea? Should I add more details about myself? Should I hold off for a bit? Any grammatical errors? Or even, would a phone call work better?

Any advice/input is appreciated.

Looks great. One thing, just find out if your BGO, if you have not already done so, is a CAPT (Navy) or Capt (USMC) because these are two different ranks O-6 and O-3.

Maybe add your city, state, and/or H.S. or college.

Good luck.

Also be aware that some BGO's either aren't or never were in the military. My daughter's was a high school history teacher in a neighboring city who's son attends the academy.

FYI
My son's B&G officer did not reply to his email.
Used the Land Line

Rank = Chief Petty Officer - E-7
Retired after 39 years. 1992

Refer to B&G 1st interview thread.

Quarter-stop 13.

Also refer to my post on the B&G interview thread. I think the earlier you can contact the BGO the better.
