hello! i’ve been waitlisted at bryn mawr college and am looking for tips to get in through the waitlist. I’m an international student and asked for substantial aid. i already sent in a LOCI so if there’s more i can do, please help out. thank you!!
Make a polite enquiry in another week or so and say you still want to attend. But I am not too hopeful, becasue at this point, I would be surprised if there is muchmoney left for international students. Esepcially as you asked for substantial aid. Good luck.
Honestly I don’t think there is much else you can do. At this point you would probably need other high-aid internationals to pull out of BMC for you to have a shot at coming off the waitlist. The same would hold true for the other schools that have you on a waitlist.
@happy1 but i’ve been told that once you’re on the waitlist it’s more about persistence (besides aid) and that if you keep in touch with them it’s increases your chances?
@anthror, that is not true. If you have something to add that might make your application stronger (you just won a competition, etc), you can contact them, and it is fine to contact them every 3 weeks or so to say “I am still hoping there’s a chance I will be admitted. Can you confirm that the waitlist is still active?”, but contacting them repeatedly will neither endear you to them nor create an opening that your profile will fill.
@anthror are you aware of anybody else getting off of the waitlist? However, do keep in mind that BMC tends to be pretty stringent with the waitlist. If it helps, you could look into the link that I have provided below.

Also, I really do hope that you get in. As an international student myself, nothing would make me happier to see the likes of another joining me in campus this fall.
@Bluejay21 yes! people have gotten off of the waitlist although I’m not sure how many but i think they’ve paused their waitlist activity for right now. i emailed my regional counsellor who said that they would continue waitlist activity well into june so I’m hoping for the best. thank you for the link, and i really hope I’m able to join!! congratulations on getting in!
I emailed my regional counselor regarding the admission stats for the incoming class and she said that BMC will release the details sometime in June which probably indicates that they’re still considering people from the waitlist. Don’t lose hope!
@Bluejay21 thank you! do you know how long people who are admitted from the waitlist are given to make a decision?
Nope, I don’t. I guess it’s a yes or a no process.
