I just found out I was waitlisted, and I wondered what my chances of actually getting in are. Do they accept a lot of people from the waitlist, or just a few? Do they include people put on the waitlist in with the regular decision pool, or do they first decide who is getting in on regular decision and then add in people from the waitlist at the end to fill in gaps? Thanks!

I believe that Waitlisted applicants are considered as part of the Regular Admissions pool. I know someone who got in off the waitlist a few years back. It's hard to predict how many they'll take in any given year, depends on how many admits commit.

They let 5 people in from the waitlist last year... my roomies is one of them- she sent BMC a letter explaining why she wanted to go, etc.

Ok, thanks. I know I am going to send them a letter telling them how much I want to be there. It really is my dream school and I was pretty devastated when I found out I was deferred. Is it alright if I send in more recommendations?

Not sure, but it doesn't hurt to ask. :D Good luck.

Deferred is not the same as waitlisted. It is very difficult to get off a waitlist. Deferred applicants from EA or ED are put back into the regular applicant pool and have to wait for an acceptance, rejection or a wailist with everyone else. I don't know BMCs policies, but it doesn't hurt to send in additional information with any accomplishments since you applied and a letter about why you want to go to BMC. Deferred applicants aften have a better chance of getting in than a waitlist. If the didn't thik you were qualified at all, you would have been rejected.

You are right. I was deferred not rejected.
