BME Schools

What are some good saefty/match schools for someone planning on doing a BME Major.

Just to give a general idea, I have a 1350 SAT. A 3.7UW GPA / 4.3 WPA. 760/730/700 SAT II's. I've taken highest possible courseload. I have very good EC'S and have taken leadership positions in all of them and pretty good recs (i hope).

I have appx. 3 - 4 reach schools in mind, but I need help focusing on matches and safeties. So far I have Case Western Reserve in mind and Rutgers University. Anybody have some suggestions??

Thanks in advance!

please? anyone? i'd really appreciate anyone's help!

I guess by BME you mean bachelors in Mechanical engineering? There are so many schools you could apply to, with your stats etc. If you provide a few more preferences, I think you'll get some suggestions posted. Mention size of school, geographic preference, what about schools like Rose Hulman and RPI that are focussed on technology or do you want to study engineering at a school that has a broad range of programs?

haha sorry for the lack of clarity... i meant
Biomedical Engineering Major.

So far the only matches/safeties I have considered are RPI and Case Western. Both in my opinion look to be excellent schools.

I have no real preference for schools, as long as they have decent biomedical engineering programs.

Check out The College of New Jersey. TCNJ offers a better undergrad experience than Rutgers. Much smaller classes and a much higher grad rate for the same price.

I haven't looked into their Biomedicla program (didn't even know they offered one), i'll check it out though. Thanks!

Anymore suggestions?

DO NOT DO BME at TCNJ... It is non-accredited!
Although I have a full ride there, I will not go there for BME... TCNJ is my last resort and if I have to go there I'll do Biology instead (which on the other hand is an excellent program)
By the way I am looking at:
University of Rochester
Case Western Reserve
Rensselaer

The BME program at TCNJ is pretty new and they have yet to have a graduating class. You cannot apply for ABET accreditation until your program has a graduating class. Then the accreditation is retroactive. The ME, Civil, Elect./Computer programs at TCNJ are accredited. The BME will be too.

Olin College in Mass, one of the hardest engineering schools to get accepted, is also new and is also not presently accredited. That hasn’t stopped people with Ivy credentials, (that is what is needed to get accepted at Olin), from applying. They will not have their ABET accreditation until they have their first graduating class, which will be in 2007 I believe.

Before I turned down a full ride to TCNJ for that reason, I would give it some strong thought.

case western is a good safety if you're a top student for BME, #4 in the nation

But many graduate schools require that the program you graduated is accreditted.
Although TCNJ is a great school, I would personally not recommend going there if you want to go into engineering

I know, but I have to think of options if I don't get into the schools of my choice.
I'm applying to Upenn SEAS ED, j. hop, duke, and northwestern as my top-level choices. All are very good schools, but if i don't get in i'm really done for. haha that's why I need a school like Case which has an exceptional BME program and isn't hard to get into. Anyone have suggestions for schools that are similar to Case in terms of BME programs and aren't as hard to get into?

anyone else?

bump... please?
