How difficult is it to get into the Washington University in St. Louis medical school if you go there and complete your undergraduate there as a Biomedical Engineering/ Business major and minor respectively? I guess I'm looking for what percentage of the medical school class that WUSTL will reserve for its own students.

from talking to a professor, it sounded to me like biomedical engineering majors had good shots at spots in the medical school, although I'm guessing you'd have to take a few extra classes here and there to prepare yourself.

10% came from same university

95% premed got in medicine school

I just talk with one person there

above poster is correct

Whoa. Please tell me more about this 95% number. Is that 95% of biomeds who were also pre-med, or is that all pre-meds at Wash U? And how firm is that stat? (purple seems to back it up)

let me put it this way: As long as you do not seriously screw up, you are virtually guaranteed a slot in medschool. It might not be a good medschool, but at least you will be in one.

And yes, virtually all biomeds get into medschool

purpleBoople "It might not be a good medschool, but at least you will be in one."?

You weren't actually trying to imply the Wash U med school is not a good one were you?? If you're into rankings; Wash U med school is ranked #3 for Research and #13 for Primary Care. That's not "good"?

Hes not referring specifically to WashUs med school, hes just saying some sort of med school (Could be Georgia State Southern Tech A&M Med School)

What would one have to do to get into pre-med? Are there any forms or applications that I should fill out? I'm actually pretty much set on BME, but I was just really curious on how they decided the pre-med group.

There are no applications to fill out, although I think you can ask for a pre-med advisor. (not sure about that)

All pre-meds, regardless of their major, are given a pre-med advisor. There is one particular advisor for BME pre-meds, I believe.

srunni is correct. I don't remember who he is exactly, but i remember that he was listed @ bme.wustl.edu so check there

You guys are awesome. Thank you for all your helpful replies!

the 95% into any med school stat----is the for real??
