Boarding School Applicants for Entry Year: 2012

I’m in the same boat. If I get admitted to BS, most likely, I won’t doing anything this summer that cost a significant amount of money. If I don’t get admitted (or decide not to go) I may participate in Exeter’s academic enrichment summer program. Or do a French immersion program. I’ll just have to wait and “see how the dice rolls”… ;)

If I do get admitted, I’ll probably do small summer jobs and see my friends.

Yeah the thing is I can’t see if I will be accepted until all the summer program deadlines pass. So stressful…

Is anyone having any doubts or regrets about the schools they’ve applied to? In the sense that you fear that there is a strong chance of you not being admitted? I’m having second thoughts about Lville. In fact, I’m having second thoughts virtually all the schools I’ve I applied to. I’m just concerned that, given my stats, I may not have the best chance.

Summer… I’m in the same boat as everyone else. Completely depending on the boarding school decision. Money isn’t the issue for my family, but if I do get into a boarding school, we plan on moving back to the USA, which will take an immense amount of time to pack and ship everything. On the other hand, THERE ARE SO MANY AMAZING SUMMER PROGRAMS I WANNA GO TO! And I have only 3 more summers left of high school… :/

starkali; It’s impossible to not have at least a thread of doubt of yourself in a process like this, unless you’re like the President’s daughter. And even then… :stuck_out_tongue: Just cross your fingers and hope for the best, there’s nothing you can do now anyway :)

Over the summer, I am traveling to Ecuador, which is where my dad’s from. I’m so excited! We go every other summer, and it’s so great to be around all of my relatives while immersing myself in Spanish. Then, we’re going to the Galapagos, which is going to be amazing! That makes up my July  In June, I’m doing field hockey camps and going to the beach with my friends, then in August I’m going to Myrtle Beach and Florida for two weeks. My summer will commence with pre-season for field hockey. I can’t wait! I’m so excited!!! :P

I’m planning on doing a 5-week intensive theater program this summer, I hope I get in… Otherwise I’ll probably just hang out with friends and do some volunteer work.

Galapagos Islands! So jealous!

I want to do some bio research program, I’m applying for the Duke TIP Genetics, along with some others, I think.

Genetics! This is a major identity giveaway but I’m translating a human genetics course for an MIT project and I love the science (more futuristic/theoretic/moral stuff though)… #yaynottheonlynerd

And my summer- indeed my whole family’s future plans, not just the summer- is completely depending on M10. Money will be tight either way.

I have no idea what I’m doing this summer, but it really depends on if I get accepted or not. If I get accepted, then I am going to being doing my own version of academic boot camp to prepare for any challenge. Also, I would spend time learning how to do basic stuff, such as laundry (I do was my own laundry, but not that well). I would also do my own version of sports boot camp to get myself prepared for the sports.

Another thing I’m doing is being a camp counselor for a few specialty (can’t tell your the activity, it would be a major identity give away) camps that I have become a senior in (senior as in experienced).

If I am not accepted into the school, then I probably will continue doing my internships while studying science/history/math.

Yeah I need an internship or a job.

Cherryrose: That sounds impressive, MIT project! I’ve been looking so hard to find a genetics program, since I’m not well prepared to really get into any research yet.

This past summer, I participated in an internship with a local congress campaign. Hopefully, I’ll be able to find an opportunity for an internship again this summer. My mother is a physician, so there are plenty of bio/medical related internships that have been offered/available to me, but it’s really not where my interest lies. I would much rather participate in an internship that centered around non-profit affairs, politics, gender studies research, etc.

(Random subject switch, excuse me.)
Did anyone else get the exact same letter (where they mention ‘you interviewed with so and so’ and ‘you said your interests were’… attached to a sheet about that specific part of the school) twice from Hotchkiss? I just got a copy of the same letter, now another a few weeks later.

I got one from Deerfield a long time ago.

@Infinity13 Yeah, it’s like “I trust your interview went well” and “Here is more information about our Humanities program…” - I think it’s pretty normal.

^ I got one also, with my interests (i think it was the things I listed on the requesting information form), and about who I interviewed with.

Same, from Hotchkiss.

I received the same letters from NMH. (They were from the Humanities, English, Science, and Foreign Language departments)

@helloel: It’s not really a research project, exactly, more a volunteer effort. If you are particularly gifted at a foreign language (and this goes for everybody else) and are interested in a higher-learning volunteer project, PM me.

It’s a great opportunity, and as far as I know, one of a kind, if you’re looking for that unusual EC pop. We’ve been lucky to work in collaboration with some pretty big names, too: MIT, Harvard, etc. However, native-level (or above) language skills are needed.

Ah, alright. I’m just going to assume getting it twice was a computer glitch, or something.

Is anyone else getting much more nervous as the day comes closer?
