Same here… I’m still waiting on a few schools (most likely rejections)… :/

AYYEEE 300th post! :D

Yeah I’m waiting on four. Feels like it will be bad news.

Got into Exeter, Blair, Andover and Choate
…wait listed at Hotchkiss, rejected at Miss Porter’s :(

Accepted to Blair… with no financial aid
waitlisted at Middlesex, Deerfield, and St. George’s
Rejected at The Hill and Lawrenceville :(

Looks like no boarding school for me. I think I will apply again next year, but right now, the thought of doing so is incredibly tiring and all I want to do is relax. It hurts so much, because I was so dependent on going, which I really shouldn’t have been. It’s awful to think that I worked SO hard all year to get to this place, and now, I wish that March 10 had never come. It was better before, because I could fantasize about getting in. I will be taking a break from College Confidential to get back to the real world, reconnect with friends I drifted away from, and focus on what I love most: learning. Thank you all for being so supportive of me, and congratulations to everyone who got accepted! I wish you all the best.

PS: Please don’t think that I’ve given up. I am applying to schools with rolling admission, and working to get off the waitlist for St. George’s. Wish me luck! :)

Good luck, ballerina. A lot of us CC-ers are in the same situation, and all we can do is support each other through this.

I will be taking a beak as well from CC. Enjoy some of my summer time and get to know myself as a person Maybe I will have the opportunity to travel abroad this year during the summer. Thank you CC. Hopefully this isn’t my final goodbye.

By rizzledrizzle! There’s always HSL! And good luck for next year.

Man, I completely forgot about this thread. This was my go-to place. I’m curious to see what everyone’s up to.

As for me, I’m on spring break and have still not made my boarding school decision. I’ve never had to contemplate something that could make a huge change in my life, so this is rather difficult. I’m down between Lawrenceville and where I am now.

Thanks for bumping this up :)

I’m sad to see you go, rizzledrizzle! Will you be applying again next year?

Just to update you guys: I received bad news on M10, being rejected at 2 schools, waitlisted at 3, then accepted at Blair without enough financial aid. However, Blair did give me more financial aid. It’s still not enough, but my family is pushing for more, and we have been placed on a financial aid waitlist. I should know at some point after April 10 if I got more and how much (they have extended my deadline for getting back to them).

Also, I applied late to Asheville and was accepted! It was a unanimous decision by the admissions officers However, they didn’t have enough financial aid for me, so they placed me on an FA waitlist. They called my mom yesterday and told me I was the top of the FA waitlist, so if more money becomes available, I will be the first to get it Yay! I should know after April 10, too. I’m holding out hope! Wish me luck :)

This may seem a little beside the point, but does anyone know what the right method is to decline an offer of admission? I need help!

Which school is it? Because for a lot you can can just check a box with your decision online.

Also, typo. I meant to say bye, rizzledrizzle. Heheh.

I had my son write a handwritten note to his interviewer, thanking that person for their support of his application, and letting them know where he was going. We enclosed that letter with the official “card” that came with the admissions offer, declining admission.

Depending on how far away you live from the school, and how close it is to April 10 before you mail your response, you might want to also give the office a call to let them know you’re declining. (It could help them finalize decisions about whether or not to go to their waitlist.)

Hello all! I know I haven’t posted here like, ever, lol but I just wanted to say hi and share my two cents. I was accepted to Choate, St. Andrew’s, Exeter, and Andover, but I know for sure that I’ll be attending Andover in the fall. Any other future Phillipians out there? And for those of you who haven’t been accepted anywhere, don’t give up hope. One of my best friends is in the same boat, and since we’re in boarding school preparatory program that has a close relationship with a lot of these schools, she’s now applying to others. Even if she doesn’t make it there’s always next year! But if you didn’t get accepted anywhere, that doesn’t make you worse than anybody or anything like that. Maybe the universe has a different plan for you, somewhere else where you would fit better. Just know that everything will work out
Again, if anyone else knows for sure they’re going to Andover next year, could you tell me? I’m really excited to meet new classmates ;)

Awwwwh, this thread has so many old memories. Us freaking out about interviews, essays, SSATs, decisions…it feels so final now. Good luck to the next set of 2012-2013 applicants if any of you are reading this in the future! :’)

Hahah I remember freaking out about recs soo much!

Random post - I just found out March 10th is on a Sunday next year. :(

Have waitlisted decisions been made for Exeter yet? I was never kept up to date as they claimed I would be, which makes me think I just didn’t get it… :(

It’ll be open until May 1 (according to the forum).

Hi, I was thinking of applying to some boarding schools for the fall of 2013, do you know any good safety schools?

I have never really gotten the whole concept of “safety” boarding schools. I reserved my local school as my “safety” since boarding school is a large investment and I would only go to a school I was in love with. However, if you are dead set on going to a boarding school no matter what, “safety” all depends on the individual. You might compare some of your scores and stats to those of the average student at each school. Scores and stats only go so far in admissions, but it’s the only way you gauge some sort of comparison since you can’t really compare recommendations, essays, interviews, etc.

@biancastar,
Only apply to schools you are willing to attend. It happens every March-10th: kids who get rejected/WL by their first choices not willing to go to the “safeties” they applied to-- so why did they even bother to apply to them?
