Boarding School for Academically strong student completing treatment

My daughter is graduating from a therapeutic boarding school and we are looking for a boarding school for 2020. She will be a junior. She was treated for depression and ED after a head injury. She is extremely strong academically but has some focus and processing issues post-concussion. We are having a hard time finding a school that will take her straight out of treatment that is not therapeutic. She is doing great in that regard now, but a large public school is not a good fit currently. We are looking for small class sizes and strong academics. Any recommendations for schools to look at? Thank You!

Solebury leaps to mind. I think that its size might make it work? It’s small and caring. I have no idea whether they would feel comfortable with your D’s needs but I think they would be very candid either way.

“ED” ???

Depression raises serious concerns for all schools.

Millbrook?

Dublin?

Thank You. I will look into it.

I’m sorry. ED is an eating disorder. She hasn’t had depression for a long time and is going off of her meds. But yes Most schools want to see her in a non-therapeutic environment for a year first.

I don’t know much about Dublin, but a friend’s son attended several years ago. He was extremely bright but had some anxiety and I believe some learning differences. I don’t believe it’s considered a therapeutic school but is very small and accommodating.

I’m a Solebury parent and highly recommend it. Warm, nurturing community that also has amazing academic opportunities (and support–if your student needs it.) The admission director has a heart of gold and will be candid with you about your daughter’s needs. Best wishes!

Penn92 can you tell me more about Solebury? I am interested in it for next year for a nonbinary kid who is above average intelligence, had ADHD and executive functioning issues, messy room, who is very into art and stage crew set design/construction and not into sports. Thoughts? Thanks!
