I am a current 8th grader going on 9th (freshman year) and I am considering going to boarding school from sophomore year. I was wondering if anyone has personal experience with going to boarding school as a sophomore year. My biggest worries are fitting in socially as a sophomore and being thrown in to a environment where everyone has already developed close bonds. I am also worried about the academic standard that would be set for an sophomore. I really need help because although I have started prepping for the SSAT I am really scared about fitting in.
For Your Information:
I got straight A's as a 8th grader
I am part of the student government
I love Basket Ball

Hey I just got accepted into stevenson (starting my junior year) and the one thing I noticed were there were a lot of kids who started there their sophomore year. I wouldn’t worry and would say just go for it :)

Depends on the school…look at how many they enroll into 10th grade. For many it’s nearly half the class, so it’s really not a big deal. Only difficult part is the transition the first half of the fall. You’re learning all about the school AND expected to work hard. But it certainly can be done, lots of kids do it every year and by the spring everyone’s on even ground but just realize, soph/junior year are the years that really count for college in terms of academic performance, so know that it will be intense, right from the start. (But worth it)
