Becuase microsoft doesn't make laptops lol. But it you mean like why not something like hp thats run by microsoft windowns and not OS X or w.e...its just what you like more. I perosnally don't prefer apply laptops. Not my preference..

Ill take one if offered lol, just not worth the money in my opinion. I'd sell it and by something cheaper to keep the profit or something..

A much cheaper compact yet durable 13-inch MacBook. One that doesn't flop in price vs performance compared to PC laptops. But yes, if I had thirteen hundred bucks to spend only on a laptop, and I didn't need it for gaming, I'd definitely get the Macbook.

I've given this a lot of thought. In normal circumstances, I'd never get a laptop, boarding school or no. But my mom is going to sell our house (a monthly $1200 mortgage off our backs, with a healthy profit besides) and she has kinda agreed to buying me a laptop.
I've decided on one of two- a 13-inch MacBook or a 15-inch MacBook Pro. I've been a Mac user for two years, and just NOW am I beginning to realize the full potential of how AWESOME this OS is. And my uncle will trick it out for me- he's a Cornell tech genius <3. Think free Photoshop, RAM upgrades, graphics card, etc. Love family.

Alright, he must be a tech genius then, if he's going to change the graphics card on a laptop... Not that it's likely you'll need it (and you're uncle must be a great guy, b/c high-end laptop gpu's are expensive as hell).

I'd rather get the 17 inch one, but it's like 1000 more dollars.

Haha awesome Saer!! :D Also, italianboarder informed me that my post about the macbook (up there) made me sound like a brat. Sorry if my post conveyed that.

I have the MacBook (not the newest one) I still have tiger (uggghh my dad is so uptight about updates) but it works just fine, plus macs are being used SO much more commonly in schools and I have a friend at my current school (laptop school) who has a windows and kind of regrets it because none of the teachers can help her when she has problems ect...

Well, the part where a couple of thousand more wouldn't make much of a difference sounded kind of bratty, but obviously you didn't mean for it to come off like that.

Macs are better for a school. My school is completely filled with iMacs (with a mic and webcam, plus the really nice screens that all macs have, along with PHOTOBOOTH) and honestly they're great to use. But I still like my current, nicely upgraded computer right now much better.

Haha, sorry, he's the tech genius, not me. I just realized what I said was kinda unrealistic. But he is rather smart. Gave us a G4 with free photoshop and other necessity (yet expensive) programs. He's great. :D

I have a second cousin that's going to Cornell. She's from Hong Kong (and has some pretty damn awesome acheivemnts), and it's her sophomore year at college.

That thing can't do jack ***** though. As much as I love the idea of supporting kids in third world countries, I would do it in ways other than purchasing a laptop that looks like it was made by Fisher Price

Dont forget that although Macs cost more they dont require the extra investments in Norton and other protective programs. They are more reliable, and they last longer. PC’s are quickly infested with spyware and all kinds of creepy crawly things that are forever plugging up the works. Macs on the other hand are always healthy and happy computers!

Am I the only one here that doesn’t like Macs?

Seriously, I can’t stand them! My brother had a MacBook and I can’t use it AT ALL. It frustrates the heck out of me. I’m happy with my Acer Aspire:) Super cheap, I drop it EVERYDAY and it works perfectly. I’ve had it for over a year, and the only problem’s I’ve had is with it’s cord. That’s one thing I have to give to Apple- the magnet is genius.
