Boarding School

So here’s my problem, I really enjoy boarding school but my parents want me to become a day student by moving over.

I currently go to a first tier boarding school in New England(think PEA, PA, DA, etc) where I love the boarding program. I feel at ease managing myself now.I have learned a ton both academically and in life skills. Boarding school taught me to be more independant. However my parents do not think I have matured over the first freshman term and are stressing about my grades. My grades are hovering around an 89 right now. Although I have to admit being away from home has been fun, I am not trying avoid my parents. May you guys please give some tips on how to convince my parents to trust the boarding program(examples will be great)? Thank you so much.

Are your parents considering moving closer to your school or do they already live close enough for you to be a day student? I wasn’t clear on what you meant by “moving over”.

Moving closer to the school from where I currently live is what I meant. @AppleNotFar

Well, I don’t know you, so I don’t know whether your parents are speaking about some sort of behavior that they see as immature. But grade wise, I think an 89 average in a highly selective school with a demanding schedule is pretty darn good for a boarding freshman away from home for the first time!

89 is an awesome grade for a freshman in boarding school. You might want to talk to your parents about what you’ve learned and how you’ve changed for the better ever since you started the program. You can also try and listen to their side of things (maybe they just miss you and it would help if you make time to visit them as much as you can).

Perhaps your advisor can also offer his/her perspective to your parents; that might be helpful.
