So how did your parents feel about you going to boarding school? Did you have to convince them? Or were they totally supportive of it?
My parents said no. But I'm pretty stubborn, and I won't take no for an answer, and I'm going to convince them to let me go. (Any ideas would be appreciated, by the way.)

I'm a prep parent but I am the product of midwestern public schools and I was very skeptical of bs - didn't want to send my kids away either. If you can convince your parents to at least visit Deerfield or St Paul's or ...your dream school... you will win the battle. We were amazed at the facilities, the teachers and the students. We visited 5 schools and they were all fantastic. Your parents will miss you but they will be thrilled with the education that you will receive (in and out of the classroom). The top schools also appear to be generous with financial aid if that's an issue.

My parents did not want to send me at first, but they were willingly to consider it. At the time my dad was working near Lawrenceville, so he went and toured by himself. After that, it wasn't hard to get my mom onboard. Since the public schools in my area are not very good and the private school I went to was 40 minutes away, we decided it was a good decision. This is my second year at bs and my parents are still very supportive and we appreciate our time around each other a lot more.
If I remember right there was a pretty good section on boardingschoolreview call "why boarding school" or something that was helpful to me
