Right now im a freshman and im thinking about going to boarding school for my junior and senior yrs of high school. Im looking at hotchkiss, st. james, and holderness. is boarding school better than regular high school and do ppl sneak out of dorms at night and party?? thank you!!

I'm no expert but my sense is that admission would be easier for you as a sophomore. Others will chime in!

yeah thats what i thought too but its too late to visit campuses, take the ssat, and apply. the application deadline was a long time ago so im going to focus on my junior yr

You might want to refine your questions a bit. If you want to know whether to consider boarding school, the questions you posed are not the most probing and likely to result in a meaningful response.

I recommend you spend some time searching past posts about these schools and boarding school life in general. Then you can post questions to clarify what you read.

sneak out of the dorms at night and party? i don't think so but i don't go to boarding school so i wouldn't be the most reliable source

I hope you aren't considering applying so you can sneak out and party.

Seriously, what risingjunior said. Most of these schools are located in towns where there ARE no clubs to speak of.

haha no if i want to party i can do that at home. i was just wondering if thats what some ppl at boarding school do but thats definetly not why i want to go. ill ask a new question though. this is pretty much for people who go to boarding school: Do you regret going to boarding school? Like, do you like it,hate it...I just dont want to go and then regret it and wish i was a home or something.

My only regret is not going to boarding school sooner...I entered as a junior so I've only had two years here. I've had some really amazing experiences at school and made some really amazing friends, I don't regret my decision to go away to school at all.

St James- my friend currently attends
She got in as an 8th grader
She loves it there
The campus is nice, not too many kids, really nice kids, etc.

arky, can I ask which school you go to?

I have a feeling I'll be the same way. I mean, wishing I'd applied before junior year.

i think you need to
do a lot more
research first...

i agree with ! preppp try to get some more information
