For those with kids in Boarding schools, does your school monitor cell phone and computer use? Don’t mean spying on kids. Do they have restrictions on use of electronic devices. I imagine some kids might end up spending WAY TOO MUCH time online, maybe social media, if there are no restrictions. One boarding school I spoke with said No they don’t. Now with a kid far away from home, parents have way less influence on them. Any ideas? Just doing research for a current middle schooler who might end up in Boarding school.
The school from which I graduated has an “Acceptable Use Policy” but there are no restrictions/monitoring. If the concern is that your child will be on the internet instead of studying, many schools have mandated study hours for freshman. If the concern is that your child will be looking at porn, well, I got nothing for that.
As always, you can share your concerns with your child’s advisor. They really do look after the best interests of the kids.
