BoCo & Transfers

I’m curious about the transfer requirements for BoCo. I know some people on here have auditioned as a transfer so I’m curious if someone could answer my questions.

I’ve taken time off of school and will be applying next year for acceptance to the Fall 2007 year. Now I graduated high school in 2004 and went to a state school for a year afterwards and earned 30 credits before I withdrew. So how do I go about getting an academic recommendation if I have been out of my college for over a year? I don’t know if anyone has been in this situation (having to get recommendations while long out of school) but I’m hoping someone can give me answers to what they did. Thanks! :)

I've been out of school since 2003. All I did was choose a few professors who I knew valued me and my work, and I sent them e-mails asking for recommendations. All three complied and were extremely nice and generous about it. It shouldn't be a problem for you.

To start as a sophomore at Boco, from my understanding, you need to have studied IPA and voice & movement, as well as music sight-reading. You also should have taken several acting and dance courses, and of course, private voice lessons. I don't know if you're going to try and enter as a sophomore, but that's the info I know from my audition interview. Hope that helps!

That does help me out. It brought up another question though, haha. When you transfer, must you start out as a sophomore? Or can you just start out as a freshman?

I have studied some of those things not many of them for long periods of time, all but the sight-reading really, however my voice teacher is teaching me basic music theory. I mean I personally don't think I'm prepared enough to skip freshman year and enter as a sophomore. I'd rather start over.

You can absolutely start as a freshman. I just wasn't sure what your level of college experience was, so I thought I'd offer the info if you were interested. :)

Personally, I completed 75 credits in a BFA MT major, so I would be pretty mad if I couldn't start as a sophomore. :)

Ah! Yeah I only have 30, so starting over wouldn't really bother me all that much, especially cause I wasn't in a BFA program beforehand. Thanks so much for your help Samia! :)

Of course! Anytime. :)
