Currently i have been in the Navy for over a year and a half. I'm in the works to reduce my EAOS to August 2013. I would like to attend either San Diego State or the University of San Diego. I'm not against going to a CC then transferring to one of the two but id rather not. I've currently taken the SATS twice with my highest score being a 980 based of the old standard (sucks i know). Not sure of my GPA in highschool my avg grade out of a 100 was like an 85 what ever that translates to out of a 4.0. Took one AP class my senior year got a 4 on the exam. I was looking into adding more EC activities and one that came to mind was doing an Iron Man Triathlon. Would completion of an Iron Man help with college admission due to showing of a mean work ethic. Id rather do that then help out at a Senior home Haha. Any feedback would be greatly appreciated. I'm not able to use TA since i haven't been at my command for a year yet or i would be doing that also.

You can take your SAT on base for free. That is the strongest thing you can do to boost your chances. Spend your downtime at work or whatever studying and take it.

Extras like the Iron Man Triathlon won’t really have a huge affect, because you are have a huge “extracurricular” in that you are a sailor. Play that up in your essay and you should be fine.

Also, how long are you going to have active duty when you get out? Just over 3 years? That is what you should try to have so you can 100% of the GI Bill.
