I am trying to find the books for my upcoming semester and I used the UBC website to find the books. Are the books that are listed for the courses on the website accurate for the fall semester. I just want to know so I can purchase them earlier.

yes there accurate but i wouldnt suugest purchasing them from UBC. to pricy. A book they sell for 150 can be ewasily found on the net for 50 dollars. Seriously. use amazon, grab the title and search there.

i just bookmarked them so i would know but i definetely won't buy them from ubc unless i have too.

yeah but once in awhile you walk in the first day of class and the professor says those books are not required, they are optional. But just buy them, then return later (after you received your shipping from half.com or amazon) :D

How soon before the semester starts are the books listed on Testudo for individual classes? At this point, all D's classes say that the book list isn't available yet. I'm assuming that if you order online (from half.com or amazon, for example) that you cannot return these??? One other question, is there any price advantage of going through Maryland Book Exchange (or Bookholders) over UBC? over amazon, etc?

Should be soon. I think ubc.umd.edu actually has the booklists up if you do a little searching.

I tried the ordering from amazon system last fall (freshman year) and sure I saved like $30, but it was a hassle making sure you have the right editions. What I found out though is that editions really only matter for math because of the problem sets which you might get homework from.

there's no price advantages of going thru book exchanges / ubc. They are much more expensive than outside. The only advantage is that it's convinient for students on campus to get it. And it's good quality. For online books, you gotta be careful. Sometimes it's half cheaper but it's toilet paper quality.
